2021 Edition of the Green Bylaws Toolkit
The Green Bylaws Toolkit (GBT) for Protecting and Enhancing the Natural Environment and Green Infrastructure (formerly the Green Bylaws Toolkit for Conserving Sensitive Ecosystems and Green Infrastructure) was originally published in 2007 and updated in 2016. With its practical approach and bylaw wording, the Green Bylaws Toolkit was immediately put to use by land use planners and decision-makers. Over the past 14 years, land use practitioners have adopted it as a core resource in their practices.
The Stewardship Centre is pleased to announce the 2021 edition of the Green Bylaws Toolkit will soon be released. This update includes the addition of more case studies and topics of interest to local government and deeper consideration of ecosystem connectivity and the importance of restoring and linking ecologically valuable land. The existing information has been updated to reflect changes in legislation, best practices and bylaws since the Toolkit was last updated. We anticipate that the revised Toolkit will continue to help BC planners and local governments to implement ecologically sustainable land use practices.
We are looking forward to providing webinars to share information about the 2021 Green Bylaws Toolkit update. Stay tuned! In the meantime, feel free to explore our Green Bylaws Toolkit website.
