Green Shores - a finalist for the 2022 Land Award!
The Stewardship Centre is beyond excited to be the finalist for the 2022 Land Awards, established by the Real Estate Foundation of BC. The Land Awards recognize outstanding projects and standout leaders who work to protect the lands and waters we love, and create a welcoming, inclusive, and socially just communities across BC. The Green Shores program was nominated under the Land Use and Conservation Category by the Comox Valley Regional District along with other members of the Green Shores Local Government Working Group. The award winner will be selected in June 9, 2022 at the award ceremony in New Westminster, BC.
Over the past few years, Green Shores® has grown to provide a unique combination of tools and resources to assist communities, local governments, shoreline professionals and property owners/managers in protecting and restoring shorelines (coastal, lake), making them resilient to the effects of climate change, including flooding and sea-level rise. It promotes better land use, essential to achieving biodiversity, sustainability, and climate adaptation goals. It is a solution that is a scalable, cost-effective, multi-faceted planning, design and policy program that is expanding across Canada.
