About the Role
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Green Shores Program Assistant will support the Executive Director and SCBC team in executing project-related deliverables in a timely manner. The primary duties include conducting research, supporting the creation of training and communication materials, and performing data entry.
The Green Shores Program Assistant will join the Stewardship Centre team in our work to strengthen ecological stewardship by providing educational, technical, and capacity programs and resources to organizations, governments, the private sector, and the public through collaborative partnerships.
We are seeking a candidate with an interest in and understanding of ecosystem restoration to support SCBC’s growing Green Shores Program: Restoring and Protecting Shorelines.
Green Shores™ promotes the sustainable use of the ecological features and functions of shoreline ecosystems through education, planning, and design. Green Shores includes two sub-programs, Green Shores for Shoreline Development for large projects and Green Shores for Homes for residential properties.
In addition, SCBC has two other primary programs requiring support:
SCBC provides introductory and advanced tools and educational programs on species at risk for community residents and land-use decision-makers. These include best practices and guidelines for habitat restoration and protecting wildlife and species at risk.
Stewardship organizations are the heart, hands, and legs of conservation and stewardship across British Columbia. We recognize the need to build capacity to support and strengthen the diverse and passionate work of the BC stewardship community.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, natural resources management, ecosystem restoration, or other related fields
- Facilitating communication; sending and submitting documents to relevant parties
- Scheduling appointments
- Maintaining digital project files and accounts
- Minimum of 2 years experience serving as a project coordinator and/or assistant
- Knowledge of and demonstrated interest in species at risk, ecosystem restoration, strategic community outreach, and other related areas of knowledge and experience
- Strong research and written communication skills
- Self-directed and able to work independently
- Bilingual (French and English) fluency is an asset but not required.
The successful candidate will also be:
- Highly motivated, self-directed, and at ease working remotely, from home and across time zones, using virtual coordination tools (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.)
- Capable of managing complex project work and juggling competing priorities with an agile and outcomes-oriented focus
- Committed to advancing justice and equity within their personal and professional lives.
Position Details
Remuneration: $22 per hour @ 32 hours/week
Location: Work remotely from anywhere in British Columbia
Start Date: June/July 2023
