Our Executive Director, DG Blair, took time to speak with Shaw TV’s Judi Murakami about how to protect birds as well as our feline friends.
Cats and birds
Did you know that hunting by domestic and feral cats is the top human-related cause of bird deaths in North America? Even if they leave the house on full stomachs, cats have a strong urge to hunt and will seek out and kill birds, rabbits, and other wildlife.
Vets see too many cats injured by cars, other cats, dogs, and wildlife. Painful injuries, infections and broken bones can be avoided if a cat lives indoors. Supervision and cat enclosures can help ensure your cat avoids the hazards of roaming. Our Happy Cat brochure has more great tips to promote healthy cats.
