Green Shores for Shoreline Development Demonstration Sites
As part of the collaborative Resilient Coasts for Samon project, initiated by the Pacific Salmon Foundation and the Stewardship Centre for BC in 2021, three Green Shores demonstration sites are being built along the East Coast of Vancouver Island. The sites will achieve Green Shores for Shoreline Development (GSSD) “Gold” Rating, the highest standard of nature-based Green Shores certification for shoreline development projects.
Green Shores demonstration sites allow for a real-life example of nature-based shoreline management that benefits local communities and coastal environments, providing habitat for wildlife and stabilizing shorelines without the use of rigid hard armour.
