Green Shores team is starting a new project!
Resilient Coasts for Salmon: Nature-Based Solutions For Climate Change
The Stewardship Centre for BC is partnering with the Pacific Salmon Foundation to deliver a FIVE-YEAR PROJECT: 2021 to 2026.
Funded by the Climate-Action-and Awareness-Fund, the Resilient Coasts for Salmon (RC4S) project will be based on the South and East coast of Vancouver Island where it will be engaging with community groups such as Peninsula Streams Society and Project Watershed; local governments the Comox Valley Regional District and the Capital Regional District, and Indigenous Groups including the K’ómoks Guardian Watchmen.
The project will complete Green Shores demonstration projects with shoreline restoration projects planned for the Gorge Waterway/Portage Inlet and Lime Bay Park in the Capital Regional District and the Comox Estuary in Courtenay. All these areas provide high-value salmon habitat.
RC4S will also help build capacity for shoreline practitioners by offering free Green Shores® training that features nature-based solutions for climate action.
