New Green Shores Resource for Residents of BC
Nature-based Shoreline Project Checklist and an Expedited Permit Guide for shoreline projects in British Columbia
The Stewardship Centre for BC’s Green Shores team is very excited to launch two new resources: the Expedited Permit Guide and a Checklist for BC’s residents interested in applying nature-based solutions for their shoreline development projects. These resources were five years in the making by the Province of British Columbia, the Stewardship Centre for BC and in-kind partners from British Columbia, Nova Scotia and Washington State.
The checklist and the guide provide guidance for owners and Crown Lease holders of marine waterfront property and a pathway to construct nature-based erosion protection and restoration works that avoid or minimize adverse impacts on the environment, navigation, safety, community values, the interests of the public, and the legal rights of First Nations and others.
Shoreline property owners and managers can now find these resources available for free download on the Nature-Based Erosion Protection website hosted by the Province for British Columbia and on the Stewardship Centre for BC’s website.
