There are organizations in every region of BC that are worthy of legacy gifts or the gift of your time.
Below is a list of organizations that could be a good starting point for finding the right fit for you.
There are also links to guides and other resources to help you learn more about valuable stewardship practices.
Find an organization that is making a difference
Some of the groups listed below provide directories that can connect you to organizations in different regions. Or you can work directly with others to create your own legacy gift or give a gift of your time.
Land Stewardship Centre: The Centre has an online Stewardship Directory that may help you find an organization to support in your region.
Land Trust Alliance of British Columbia: The Alliance also has an online directory of groups working on land trusts in the province.
Victoria Foundation: The Foundation’s mission is to connect people who care with causes that matter. They grant millions of dollars a year to different charitable organizations and worthy causes. Visit their website for more information.
Nature Conservancy of Canada: The NCC works towards creating a legacy for future generations by conserving important natural areas and biological diversity across all regions of Canada. Learn more about what you can do to support their mission.
The Nature Trust of British Columbia – TNT is dedicated to conserving BC’s biological diversity through securement and management of ecologically significant lands. Since 1971 they have secured over 70,000 hectares of critical habitat across the province for wildlife, fish and plants. Visit TNT’s website.

Species at Risk Stewardship Practices Guides – These five different guides provide landowners, climbers or cat owners with information they can use to inform their actions to conserve wildlife and species at risk.
Species at Risk website: This website is an easy-to-use entry point for people wanting to research and learn about species at risk in British Columbia. It provides basic biological and distribution information in lay terms and access to more detailed information.
Habitat Trust Conservation Foundation: HCTF has a series of regional Naturescape native plant and animal guides that explain the broader natural environment within which you live, and allows you to determine the general types of wildlife habitats you might consider when planning Naturescape projects.
