We are proud to feature stewardship champions who have made a difference. Some are dedicated to spending time protecting the land and water around them. Others have provided legacy gifts of land, money or other resources.

We are also profiling public nominations for stewardship champions.

Featured Stewardship Champions

Frank is a pioneer in advocating socially-responsible investing and is highly-regarded in the conservation community.

Sue Hemphill, of the Scout Island Nature Centre in Williams Lake, loves getting people of all ages outdoors exploring, enjoying and learning about nature.

Lee Hesketh started the Farmland-Riparian Interface Stewardship Program (FRISP), an innovative program designed to address watershed resource concerns in the agricultural sector.

Murray LaBrash is so passionate about land conservation in BC he donated 32 hectares in the Rock Creek area to The Nature Trust of British Columbia.

After learning about SCBC's Green Shores program, Ryan Christie became a strong proponent of this ecological approach to shoreline development.

Heather Pritchard is a female food hero because of her passion and commitment to passing on skills, land, partnerships, sustainable practices and biodiverse seeds to the next generation of BC farmers.

Jenna Falk is passionate about conservation in the Gulf Islands and BC. Jenna started working at the Galiano Conservancy Association (GSA) in May 2014, building on earlier volunteer activities.

We will be adding new Stewardship Champions monthly, until July 2017, so check back!

Douglas Swanston has been providing aquatic and marine life education and services for over 30 years

Krista Voth has a keen interest in the way urban parks are used and cared for by the public.

Brenda LaCroix is the Stewardship Coordinator at the Christina Lake Stewardship Society.

Sam Quinlan, a professional bird biologist, owns HooH Hops farm in Lillooet.
