Green Shores, Applying Nature-Based Solutions in the Foreshore
Join us on Wednesday, March 20 at 9:00 am PST, to welcome Cori Barraclough and Dr. Donna Marie Bilkovic, who will discuss their experiences in applying nature-based solutions in coastal and lakefront foreshore areas. They will present their research and methods for maximizing ecological function and shoreline stabilization, share challenges and lessons learned while working with landowners, and inform us which incentives are working to bring more projects to completion.
Speakers
Cori Barraclough, Aqua-Tex Scientific Consulting, is a freshwater Ecologist with 20 years of experience helping local governments in BC manage and protect community water resources. Cori believes in a nature-based, integrated team approach to sustainable planning and design.
Dr. Donna Marie Bilkovic, Virginia Institute of Marine Science, Center for Coastal Resources Management, specializes in evaluating the ecological and sociocultural functions of nature-based approaches for shoreline protection, along with their capacity to act as estuarine habitat conservation strategies. She is the Lead Editor of the book “Living Shorelines: The Science and Management of Nature-Based Coastal Protection”
