Cats and Birds | Helping Cats
Webinar Recording:
Cat body language, behaviour, and enrichment
Training your cat on a leash and harness, introducing them to a catio or supervising them in an enclosed outdoor area are great ways to allow your feline friend to enjoy the outdoors safely. That said, cat owners are aware that introducing cats to a new routine is challenging since cats can be resistant to lifestyle changes.
Knowing how your cat sees the world and when they feel confident and happy or scared and nervous can help you navigate how to best support your kitty in enjoying the outdoors safely. This webinar sheds light on cat body language, cat behaviour and tips on enrichment and play-time for your feline companions. Click below to watch the webinar or visit our YouTube channel!
Speakers
This webinar was presented by Bryna Turk and Aline Camargo, DVM on August 11, 2022.
Bryna Turk (She/They), Cats and Birds Community Engagement and Outreach Coordinator
Bryna grew up in Calgary, Alberta and moved to Vancouver to complete a Bachelor of Science in Applied Biology from UBC. Having worked with wild and domestic birds in both wildlife rehab and veterinary settings, Bryna has witnessed the first-hand effects of cats on birds (and other wildlife) at the individual level. As a cat owner, she strives to combine diverse perspectives to increase awareness of the effects of feral and roaming cat populations on wildlife and meet folks where they’re at to address this issue.
Aline Dias Camargo (She/Her), DVM, SCBC Cats and Birds Committee Member
Aline finished her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program at UFPel, Brazil, and moved to Vancouver to study Communications. She is currently researching animal behaviour and welfare. Aline believes that proper communication can help people better understand their pets’ behaviour and improve interactions with other humans. She is passionate about cat behaviour and finding solutions for domesticated cats to safely express their nature without negatively impacting wildlife.
